The benefits of High Speed Internet Services
Without wanting to overstate the obvious, it has to be said that the main advantage to having a high speed internet connection is the sheer speed. For those of you who have ever used a dial up connection, you will know exactly what I mean. Dial up is so slow that sometimes you can wait several minutes for a new screen to format itself and as for trying to download anything it seems to take forever.
With a high speed internet connection you will be amazed at just how quickly you can surf around and move from website to website, or conduct browser searches etc with seemingly impossible speed when compared to the old dial up system.
Many of today's internet users like to download songs to put on their iPods, or movies that they can burn onto DVD. Under the old dial up system this is virtually impossible. It takes so long that your internet connection would simply time out. With a high speed internet connection however, it's absolutely no problem. The increased bandwidth makes it fast and easy to cope with any sort of download. It's just the same with online streaming, when you watch a movie live on the internet; dial up is so slow it's literally unwatchable.
If you were to try and watch a movie online that is streamed (in other words you watch it live), and you only have a dial up connection, you will get extremely frustrated. It will take ages to "buffer", which is what they call it when it is collecting enough data to start the screening. Then once the buffer is full and the screening starts, it will last only a few seconds before it freezes and starts buffering once again for several minutes. It's just not really practical to watch any sort of movie via a dial up connection; it's just too slow. It's easier and far less frustrating to just go out and hire the DVD.
Some people are very unwilling to spend any money unless it's an emergency, and it has to be said that a fast internet connection will cost a little more than a dial up service. But as the saying goes, "money isn't everything". What about your time? Isn't that worth something too? When you stop to think how much time you waste with a dial up connection, you begin to realize that a little extra cash is not too much to ask for less waste of your own very precious time.
Many people are interested in saving money so they never make the switch to the slightly more expensive service, the high speed service. While saving money is very important, your time should also be worth something. If you have to spend thirty minutes trying to get online and get a phone number from an online directory then that is about 28 minutes too long.
Just think what you could do with the time you would save by going high speed. All of those projects that you've side lined could suddenly be open for review; or if you are short on relaxation time for game playing etc, going high speed will grant you that extra freedom time to spend any way you wish.
All of the things that you have been putting off because you simply don't normally have the time will be able to be done once you get hi-speed. You'll have to finds another excise for putting them off. You can perhaps get more R...R in instead.
Once you stop to analyze it, you may begin to see what I mean; but to be fully convinced you simply have to try it out. Maybe you can try it out at work, (don't tell anyone I suggested it), or maybe one of your buddies has got high speed you could "test drive". The point is that once you try high speed, you will want to have it for yourself and you'll never want to go back snail's pace.
